Self-adhesive Vibration Damping Tiles


Megasorber DT2 is self-adhesive constrained layer vibration damping tile. Using the latest polymer alloy technology, Megasorber DT2 has a unique polymer blend designed to provide high viscous damping and isolation properties over a wide temperature range with built-in self-adhesive technology (patent applied for).

The built-in self-adhesive provides for ease of installation. This unique adhesion enables the product to withstand temperatures up to 180ºC without delaminating from the substrate (short term exposure only). In addition, Megasorber DT2 has excellent adhesion to primed steel, lacquered steel, aluminium and low surface energy substrate such as polypropylene and polyethylene.

Megasorber DT2 complies with IMO Resolution A653(16) for marine applications.

Megasorber DT2 is designed to reduce the low frequency structure-borne noise as well as increasing the sound transmission loss. Megasorber DT2 is specially developed to provide sufficient damping for thick substrates such as steel, aluminium, plastic and GRP composites.

Megasorber DT2A is a self-adhesive aluminium damping tile to provide high vibration damping for aluminium plates up to 12mm thick. It is a light weight vibration damping and isolation material. It is designed to provide maximum vibration damping and isolation without adding much weight. It is one of the most suitable damping material for weight sensitive applications, such as automotive, boats, buses and trains.

Megasorber DT2S is a self-adhesive steel damping tile. It is designed to provide excellent damping for steel plates up to 12mm thick.

DT2 can be supplied in either green or black colour.

Installation Instructions

  1. Surface preparation: The surface must be dry, free of oil, dust, grease, rust and other contaminants.
  2. Application method: Peel off the release liner on the back of the damping tile and apply the tile onto the substrate. After the initial contact, apply firm hand pressure or use a roller to push the damping tile onto the substrate. The damping tile must be in full contact with the substrate and free of any trapped air bubbles.
  3. The damping tile is designed to be re-positionable within 24 hours after application. The damping tiles will reach their full bond strength after 24 hours.
  4. Minimum coverage: 60% of total area.
  5. Recommended application temperature: above 10°C.
  6. Megasorber A200 adhesive / sealant is recommend to fill the gaps between the tiles if needed.
  7. For tiles to be installed in overhead potion, it is recommended using Megasorber A200 along the edges to provide extra support. Alternately, mechanical fixing method such as small screws is recommended to provide the extra support.
