Megasorber LD5 is a high-performance liquid deadener for panel vibration damping and noise control. The exceptional vibration damping properties are complimented by fast drying, ease of use, environmental friendliness and low flammability.

Megasorber LD5 is a thixotropic paste and is specially designed for trowel, pour, brush, roll-on and spray-on applications. Once dry, the cured film is UV resistant and water resistant.

Megasorber LD5 effectively reduces resonant vibration. Vibration energy is absorbed within the material and converted to heat. In addition to vibration damping, it also increases substrate transmission loss as a result of the reduction of panel coincidence and panel resonance effects.

LD5 can be trowelled or sprayed on. It is especially suitable for panels with complicated shapes. It can be painted over with an acrylic paint.

Water Resistance: The damping performance of the dry coating will not be affected when exposed to water. Trials show the coating does not deteriorate nor delaminate from steel substrate after submerged under water for three months. It is recommended to conduct own testing, if in doubt.

Installation Instructions

These recommendations are for general guidance only. Application methods must be tested under actual service conditions to determine their suitability for a particular purpose.

1. Surface Preparation:

  • The surface must be dry, free of oil, dust, grease and other contaminants.
  • An adhesion promoter is not necessary.
  • On non-galvanised steel and non-anodised aluminium, a rust-preventing primer must be applied.

2. Mixing

Product is shipped at proper viscosity. If a thinner consistency is needed, add a small amount of methylated spirits or water (a maximum of 5%) and stir the product thoroughly.

3.Maximum Thickness

Maximum Thickness per coat: 3mm

4.Recommended Minimum Coating Thickness Ratio (coating / substrate)

Note: The above coating thickness ratio ensures that the damping treatment has a minimum system loss factor of 0.10, which equals to a 20 dB(A) noise reduction for large freely suspended panel.

6.Application Methods

Trowel On

Normal trowel or doctor blade is suitable.

Air Spray

  • Bottom entry pressure pot
