Megasorber D14 is a unique self-adhesive vibration damping material, as it provides consistent damping performance over a wide temperature range.

Using the latest polymer alloy technology, Megasorber D14 is a blend designed to provide high viscous damping properties combined with built-in self-adhesive technology (there is no separate glue or adhesive applied to the product). This built-in self-adhesive technology enables the product to withstand temperatures up to 120°C.

In addition, Megasorber D14 has excellent adhesion to primed steel, lacquered steel, aluminium and low surface energy substrates such as polypropylene and polyethylene.

Megasorber D14 complies with IMO Resolution A653(16) for marine applications.

Megasorber D14 is a light-weight vibration damping material. It is designed to provide maximum damping without adding much weight. It is one of the most suitable damping material for weight sensitive applications, such as automotive, boats and buses and trains.

The aluminium foil provides excellent heat reflection. Megasorber D14 is widely used as a self-adhesive vibration damping material, an acoustic sealer to seal holes and openings as well as heat shield patches.

Standard facing colour is gold or Silver.  Light grey and dark grey are also available upon request. However, minimum order quantity will apply.  The aluminium facing may have some creases.  This does not affect the performance of the product.

Installation Instructions

1.Surface Preparation

The surface must be dry, free of oil, dust, grease, rust and other contaminants. Clean surface with Megasorber AC5 adhesive cleaner or acetone.

2. Application Method

  • Cut D14 to size with non-stick scissors (available from Megasorber), sharp Stanley knife or similar. Wear protective gloves when cutting. Dip knife in a glass of water to prevent the adhesive building up on the knife.
  • Gradually peel off the release liner on the back of the D14 and apply the damping sheet onto the substrate immediately.
    Caution: Only peel off the release liner when the D14 is to be installed. Do not peel off the release line and leave the D14 exposed to open air for a long period of time (such as half an hour or more). If the adhesive surface is contaminated, (with dust, water, finger marks, etc), it will lose its initial tack and bonding strength and the product may not adhere onto the substrate.
  • Start by making contact at one end of the D14 sheet, gradually 'roll' the D14 down along the surface, pushing the D14 onto the substrate and ensuring firm contact is made.
  • After the initial contact, apply firm hand pressure or use a roller to push the product onto the substrate. The product must be in full contact with the substrate and free of any trapped air bubbles.
  • If the product needs to be re-positioned, it must be done within 24 hours after the application. The product will reach its full bonding strength after 24 hours.

Recommended application temperature:  above 10°C.
