Megasorber FM H range acoustic panels are hydrophobic, waterproof and lightweight. They are specifically designed for aquatic centres, swimming pools, outdoor applications, marine applications, hospitals, scientific laboratories, and anywhere the product may be fully exposed to water or wet environments.


Megasorber FM H acoustic panels consist of a hydrophobic acoustic base foam and a unique fluid/water repellent Soundmesh G8 facing. The product repels water from all sides. The facing is water repellent, the foam on the back and on the edges is hydrophobic. Even when the product is cut or trimmed, it remains fully water repellent.

Non-Combustible and Fire-Safe

Megasorber FM H acoustic panels have Building Code Australia (BCA) Group 1 fire classification as per BCA C1.10 specifications and ISO 5660 Group 1 fire rating. The panels are non-combustible and fire-safe.

  1. Standard thickness: 25mm and 50mm. 
  2. 12mm, 38mm, 75mm and 100mm are non-standard thickness and are made to order.                  
  3. Customized thickness is also available and minimum order quantity applies. 
  4. Standard sheet size is 1.2m x 2.4m. Other sheet sizes available are 1.2m x 1.2m and 1.2m x 0.6m. We can cut to any size and any shape using our CNC cutting technology, however, cutting charges apply.
  5. Water/fluid* repellent facing is recommended for easy surface cleaning.
    *Please note: does not include petroleum or solvent based fluids.
  6. G8 facing may have some stripy appearance. Hairline creases may appear on the facing when handling.
  7. There are colour variations between batches, especially for the grey and sandstone colours. Soundmesh G8 facing made from different batches may be difficult to colour match.
  8. Thickness tolerance is ±5% and sheet dimension tolerance is ±1%.
  9. Other sheet sizes available are: 1200mm x 1200mm and 1200mm x 600mm (1195mm x 595mm if packed in boxes). We can  cut panels to any size and any shape using our CNC cutting technology, however, extra cutting charges apply.
  10. Megasorber FM panels will expand and contract when temperature changes, in the same manner as common materials such as concrete and metal.  These thermal movements may cause the Soundmesh G8 facing to crease.  The creases on Soundmesh G8 will not affect the acoustic performance of the product.

Standard Facing Colours

White, grey, sandstone and black. MOQ (minimum order quantity) applies for custom colours.

There are colour variations between batches, especially for the grey and sandstone colours. Soundmesh G8 facing made from different batches may be difficult to colour match.

Hydrophobic Base Foam

Available in off-white and light-grey.  Default colour is off-white.

Installation Instructions

The following recommendations are for general guidance only. Installation methods must be tested under actual service conditions to determine their suitability for a particular purpose. We recommend installing panels in accordance with the appropriate procedures as approved by Megasorber.

1. Keep Sheets Flat

Sheets must be kept flat during the handling and installation process. Bending or folding sheets may create creases on the Soundmesh G8 facing. Once formed, these creases are difficult to remove.

2. Cutting

The product can be hand-cut by a knife or machine-cut by a bench saw or rotating blade cutter with a fine tooth blade.

We recommend wearing gloves during cutting. The Soundmesh G8 facing edges may irritate or cut the skin.

3. Direct-Fix: Installing Panels with Adhesives

We recommend Megasorber A200 adhesive to install Megasorber FM panels onto uneven surfaces such as concrete slabs, plasterboard and brick walls.

Substrate Surface Preparation

The surface must be flat, dry and free of oil, dust, grease and other contaminants. Clean substrate with Megasorber AC5 or similar.

Megasorber AC5 Adhesive Cleaner is recommended for adhesive removal and surface cleaning.

Option 1: Megasorber A200 Adhesive

Recommended for smooth surfaces, such as refrigeration panels, plasterboards and metal panels.

5. Edge Covers

6. Seal Joints With Colour-Matching Self-Adhesive Tape

Soundmesh G8 Tape

A matching Soundmesh G8 Tape can be used to seal the edges and joins. The standard Soundmesh G8 colours available are: Black (B), White (W), Grey (G) and Sandstone (S).

Recommendations for applying the Soundmesh G8 tape:

  • The substrate surface must be flat, dry, free of oil, dust, grease and other contaminants.
  • Soundmesh G8 tape must be firmly pressed against the substrate upon application to ensure the adhesive has full contact with the substrate.
  • The ambient temperature for application is recommended to be at least above 10°C.
  • For products with water / fluid repellent G8 facing, the G8 tape can be applied with heat and pressure, such as an iron or a hot air-gun plus a pressure roller.
