Melbourne Terminal Building Soundproofing

The soundproofing of the ceiling in Melbourne's new T4 airport terminal building had to meet these requirements:

  • acoustic functionality:
    • to minimise ambient noise
    • to meet acoustic design requirements
  • appearance must be aesthetically pleasing
  • fireproof
  • water repellent for easy cleaning and maintenance
  • cost effective
  • easily cut to design specifications
  • easy to install

Soundproofing Solution

Megasorber P25WR-WH(GP) acoustic panels were specified and installed onto the concrete soffit ceiling to provide both soundproofing and thermal insulation. This is one of the most cost effective solutions for soundproofing in airport halls.

The product was installed with Megasorber A200 adhesive and concrete pins. J-profile edges covered two ends with shadow line between panels.
