Megasorber 4-Fold Approach® — sound absorption

Sound energy reduced by absorption

sound absorption

Megasorber® absorption materials are engineered to optimize the sound absorption.

In addition, Megasorber employs the unique Soundmesh G8 acoustic facing to further enhance the sound absorption capacity of these materials.

Sound is absorbed by porous materials. The sound wave is trapped and dissipated through these materials. The porous material must not be, therefore, too 'open' or 'closed' to catch the sound wave. In addition to these, solid or impermeable facing materials must be avoided as these materials, such as aluminium foil, mylar film and so on, tend to reflect the sound, preventing it from being absorbed by the porous material behind them.

Megasorber® absorption materials employ multiple sound absorption mechanisms to maximize the total absorption capacity. As a result, Megasorber® has developed a range of sound absorption materials:

  • Fireproof sound absorbing fabric:
Soundmesh G8 is a thin, unique fireproof and sound absorbing material.
  • Sound absorption - polyester based:
Megasorber P range ultilises the unique Soundmesh G8 facing on acoustic polyester to further enhance the acoustic performance.
  • Sound absorption - foam-based:
Megasorber FG range combines the hydrolysis resistant acoustic foam with Soundmesh G8. Traditional acoustic foam suffers huge performance variations due to the difficulty in controlling the foaming process. With Soundmesh G8 controlling the acoustic performance, Megasorber FG eliminates the batch variations and provides consistent acoustic performance every time, all the time.
